The Evolution of My Obesity

As mentioned in my previous post, my parents kept records of my life in a book called "those wonderful school years." It had a section in it for each year Kindergarten through Senior year of High School to store class pictures, report cards, awards, etc. It would also have an area where I'd fill out my teacher's name, what i want to be when I grow up, best friends name, age, height, weight, etc. My parents would make me fill it out every year in my own handwriting which got annoying by the time High School rolled around but I must admit that I appreciate it now. Yeah yeah, mom and dad were right and I'd recommend that any parent do this with their kids too just to see the progression of their penmanship. ;-) Anyway, without rambling any further, here is a history of my height and weight thanks to this book:

This is information that will be useful to someone at some point down the road, perhaps a nutritionist? I'm not exactly sure why I'm including this information, but I'm sure we'll find it useful at some point during the evolution of this blog. All that matters now is that I gained 50 lbs in the 10 years after High School, then 50 more in the 3 years after that and we need to go the other way now.

Background and Purpose of the Blog

I don't have kids, but I'm glad that my parents did. :-) I'm even more glad that they decided to keep records from my childhood which I can refer back to and share with anyone who accidentally came across this Blog of mine. Chances are you found me on Google because I am a Certified Search Engine Expert for a living. :-)

I've always been slightly chubby or overweight, at least in my opinion through the years, but since I hit 30 it's been getting out of control. I've never ate poorly in my life, I do not drink soda or eat fast food more than 3 - 4 times per year (seriously) and I blame most of my weight issues on genetics and metabolism. Those skinny people reading this will not believe that previous statement but those in the same boat as me actually understand that it IS possible to be overweight due to metabolism. However, I do not exercise as often as I used to and I do drink a few times a week which clearly isn't helping out my cause, although a lot of skinny people I know drink 10 times as much as me and still manage to have those 6-pack abs.

Anyway, too much talking and it's time for action which is why I'm writing this blog. My goal is to lose 25 lbs and then go from there. Since I'm a Search Engine Expert, this blog will serve dual purposes as I plan on documenting everything I eat and drink over the next few weeks or until I reach my goal. In addition, I'm hoping that other people in similar situations as me will google words related to males trying to lose weight and find my site and then perhaps comment or respond if I'm slacking which will give me a good kick in the a$$ to help motivate me to lose those 25 lbs. Wish Me luck!
